The Ultimate Guide For Brow Pre-&-Post Care
Having well-done and properly shaped eyebrows is a dream of every woman, and there is nothing better than having permanently-shaped brows. So, if you want to get the brows done, there are some pre-care and post-care points that should help!
Pre-Care Tips
Before you sit in that magical chair and get your brows done, there are some pre-care tips that you have to follow;
Don’t opt for the permanent brow procedure if you are taking Tazorac, Accutane, or other similar medications
Avoid fillers and Botox around the eyebrow area before thirty days of the procedure. In addition, you should avoid using chemical peels, laser treatments, and glycolic acid. As far as skincare is concerned, you must avoid anti-aging creams and Retinol
You must not get any waxing, threading, or facials around your eyebrow area before two weeks of the procedure. In addition, you must avoid sunburn and prolonged sun exposure
One week before the procedure, you must avoid Naproxen, Ibuprofen, Advil, and Motrin. You must avoid smoking and marijuana and make sure you aren’t consuming cayenne supplements, DHA supplements, fish oils, niacin, turmeric, and vitamin E
One to three days before the procedure, you must not consume red wine and tea or coffee. If you are caffeine-addicted, you can opt for half a cup of tea or coffee
On the day or procedure, you shouldn’t indulge in intense physical activities, but walking and light yoga will be fine. Also, it’s recommended that you bring the eyebrow inspiration and makeup pictures
Post-Care Tips
The post-care is different for everyone, depending on the skin type, medical conditions, lifestyle, and texture. However, there are some general tips that everyone has to follow.
On the first day, the post-care bag is provided to help you through the healing process. Once the procedure is completed, the pigment sealer is applied to the brows, and it’s recommended that you pat the eyebrows with gauze or cotton pad after every five to ten minutes for the first half an hour. After thirty minutes, tap the brows once an hour to make sure the lymph fluid is soaked. The lymph fluid can be yellowish or clear, which dries to create scabs.
After two hours of the procedure, you should follow these steps;
You have to wash your hands and use the sterile wipes to clean the brows in the hair’s direction. It is important to remove the excess oil
Then, use the applicator to apply the aftercare ointment and use rice grain amount for both your brows
Lastly, pat dry them again or until bedtime
From day two to nine, you have to repeat the drying and gel application process during the night and morning. It’s recommended that you apply the gel once a day to prevent itchiness and dryness. On the 10th day, you can resume the skincare normally. In case of dry skin and scabs, just wash the brows gently.
Additional Recommendations
You must not scratch, rub, or pick the brow area and make sure the dry skin or scabbing falls off naturally
Do not indulge in excessive workouts for a week
Avoid using sauna, chlorine, saltwater, swimming, SPF, and steam room for ten days
Don’t use chemical or physical exfoliants, harsh cleansers, tanning, and direct sun exposure for a month after the procedure. For this reason, it’s recommended that you wear a hat when outdoors
Avoid hot and long showers for ten days and make sure you don’t wear any makeup on your eyebrows for two weeks
In case of sweating, you must cleanse the brow area immediately
Avoid chemical treatments, Botox, facials, and microdermabrasion for four weeks, and try not sleeping on the face for ten days
What Happens During The Healing Phase
Day 1-3: The eyebrows will be 2x to 3x times darker and will appear thicker. In simpler words, the brows will look 3D, and the shape will be uneven.
Day 3-7: The eyebrows will be dark, but scabbing will begin. When the scabs start falling off, the under-scan area will become light, but you must not pick the scabs – let them fall naturally.
Day 7-10: The eyebrows will have a patchy color, and you should use a mascara spoolie or cotton swab to remove the stuck scabs. As a result, the eyebrows will start appearing light, but there might be dark patches. In simpler words, the true color and shape appear during the third and sixth week.
Between 2-6 weeks: The color will start becoming true, and the skin will be healed within two to three weeks, but the internal healing isn’t complete during this period (the client’s age and skin type can have a direct impact on healing period). Usually, the young skin has a quicker healing process (around four weeks). However, the mature skin can take over six to eight weeks for full healing.
Long-Term Care Of Brows
Always use a sunscreen
If you have to go through laser treatments, MRI scans, and chemical peels, you need to tell the care provider or technician
The use of chemical and acid peels, exfoliants, and Retinol will result in premature fading
Try not to use brow makeup on the eyebrows to show the real pigment color
The Bottom Line
The clients must remember that result of the brow procedure can vary with skin texture and type, health conditions, and medications. In addition, the antacids, anxiety, and thyroid medications can interfere with permanent makeup, which is why they might need regular retouching. All in all, you must protect the brows from exposure to UV rays as it helps extend the lifespan and on-point appearance of the brows.
